Copilot in Paris

I spent a few days in Paris… And yes, for the first time, I used only Copilot and GPT-5 to plan, organise, get around and search for information both before and during the trip.

Step 1 – Planning

I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world, moving from using paper maps and printed tickets to having everything on my smartphone.

A few days before departure, I asked Copilot:

“Hi, I’m organising a trip to Paris with my family. It’s me, my partner and an 11-year-old girl. We’ll be in Paris on 29, 30 and 31 August. We have all three days available. What can we see in these three days? Exclude Disneyland. The hotel will be in the [insert_area] area.”

The real issue wasn’t so much what to see, but how to get around the city without bouncing from one side to the other.

Copilot generated a very respectable itinerary for me.

As a start it wasn’t bad, but I wanted to dig deeper, so I asked:

“I’d like you to provide links where I can buy tickets in advance for all the places. Write them next to the descriptions you’ve given me.”

The programme began to take shape:

*Worth noting the suggestion at the end

I also asked:

“Add information about the tickets we’ll need to visit everything, including prices and links to buy them.”

I was given something much more detailed:

Copilot also began suggesting ways to save money, showing me an approximate price for everything I wanted to see.

As I went on, I asked for information about tickets for public transport, and Copilot suggested buying a 3-day pass to save money rather than buying separate tickets each time.

Finally, I asked it to generate a PDF, but I wasn’t satisfied (the font, text alignment and links weren’t the most user-friendly).

Step 2 – The Trip

During the trip I used Copilot as a travel assistant, an interactive map, a restaurant researcher, a “Cicerone” and much more.

“Where can I go to eat? I’m here.”

I took photos, asking what I was looking at and having Copilot tell me the history.

I asked for weather forecasts to adapt my itinerary for the following day.

These might sound like simple examples, but they become far more important when the success of your trip depends on the choices you make!

Pros and Cons

The real “killer application” is the speed and relevance of the responses. I think that in about half an hour I had a customised guide, tailored to my interests, with links, prices, advice and suggestions.

The fact that I didn’t have to spend ages “Googling” for information is a big plus… far better to be enchanted by the magical Notre-Dame Cathedral.

As mentioned above, I didn’t like the generation of the PDF or document in general, but I had everything with me and was able to pick up the chat with the history to keep the context of the conversation.

Copilot and GPT-5 were not just tools: they became genuine travel companions, able to simplify planning, reduce stress, and give me more time to enjoy what really matters.

I love technology, but I much prefer admiring one of the world’s most imposing Gothic buildings, standing for over 800 years.

And you? Have you ever used an AI assistant to organise a trip?

Boom, done 💣!
